Holiday on a barge

in Holland - Belgium - France

We love barging and living on board and we love to share the experience with those who’re interested.
Furthermore, we enjoy being hosts and catering to our guests.

From the end of March till beginning of October we sail the European rivers and canals; through where are we now and theblog you can always see and follow what we do and what the (change in) plans are.

When we are on the move we offer you the possibility to join us for a while.
You could prolong your holiday somewhere in our vicinity by staying with us or do a stopover en route to another destination.

Sit outside on the sundeck, enjoy the view or join in managing the ship as we pass through a lock or bridge.
If you’re interested the skipper can fill you out on the ships workings or hand you the tiller.

There are bicycles on board, but your own bicycles can be taken on board as well.
Cycling or walking along the towpath and boarding again when you’re done, while we meanwhile take your lodging to you.
Tagging along in your own canoe or making extended tours on your bicycle, using us as your homebase, it’s all in the offering and we are open to all suggestions.
We have a small dinghy so we are not limited to the official mooring spots and we can drop anchor in beautiful spots.
We can stay in one place for a day if there is a market, a nice village or anything else of interest.
It is all decided in consultation and according to what is possible.

On an average day's barging 't Majeur does about 15-20 km (4-5 hours barging). Even after a few days it is still possible to pick up a car by bicycle, public transport or a taxi.

Boat&Breakfast

In wintertime we'll find ourselves stationary, not barging. Each year we have to find a suitable mooring; it keeps us on our toe's!
This coming winter we will be in Haarlem on the Spaarne river - see this link Winter 2012/2013 for more details.

If the mooring appeals to you board us for Boat & Breakfast, no barging alas.
Using the barge as a comfortable home base you can explore the surroundings, be it the country or a town.
